Beadwork
Widely recognized for the beauty and skill of their creations, Anishinaabe and other Indigenous artists continue the work of their ancestors, adapting beadwork to a new range of materials. Award-winning Metis artist Christi Belcourt is at the forefront of the beadwork resurgence. She founded Walking with our Sisters, a collective art installation that commemorates missing and murdered Indigenous women, through the display of beaded moccasin vamps (tops) created by more than 1300 artists.
